“What stood out to us about eCourier was that the platform is clearly built by people who understand structured business documents and how developers want to work. The API was straightforward, the documentation was excellent, and we went from our first conversation to sending live invoices through NemHandel in just two weeks. Since then, everything has simply worked.”

How Invopop launched Danish e-invoicing in just two weeks with eCourier

About Invopop

Invopop is a global invoicing infrastructure platform that helps businesses send, receive, and report compliant invoices across more than 30 countries. Invopop handles local e-invoicing formats, tax reporting requirements, and connections to authorities and networks, allowing companies to expand into new markets without building and maintaining separate invoicing integrations for each country.

You build most country integrations in-house. What made Denmark different?

We build most country integrations in-house, but Denmark presented a different practical constraint. Registering as a service provider in NemHandel would have required us to establish a local Danish company. That route would have taken longer, cost more, and created additional operational work for our team before we could begin serving customers in the market.

Working with a local partner allowed us to avoid turning that registration requirement into a much larger internal project. Instead, we could focus our own resources on the Invopop platform and on giving our customers access to Danish e-invoicing through an established local connection.

What mattered most when choosing a Danish partner β€” and what wouldn’t you compromise on?

The developer experience mattered a great deal. We needed a partner whose platform could fit naturally into the way Invopop already works, without introducing unnecessary complexity for our engineering team or forcing us into a manual process.

It was obvious from the outset that eCourier had been built for and by developers β€” people who understand the ins and outs of sending and receiving structured business documents. The whole platform is designed to be consumed through an API, which made it easy for our developers to understand, connect to, and start using.

We also would not compromise on the quality of the documentation or the responsiveness of the team behind the platform. Those things are essential when integrating infrastructure that our own customers will rely on.

What was the integration process like, and how quickly did you go live?

The integration process was extremely smooth. The documentation was clear, the platform was well designed, and the eCourier team was very responsive whenever we needed input during the process. That combination meant our developers could move quickly without having to spend time working around unclear requirements or unnecessary technical friction.

From our first conversation with eCourier to sending the first live invoice through NemHandel, the entire process took two weeks. That included everything needed to get the connection ready for production. In light of our requirements and the fact that this was a new country connection, that is about as fast as one can reasonably hope for.

What kinds of customers were asking for Danish coverage, and what were they doing before Invopop supported NemHandel?

The demand came from global software vendors using Invopop. They needed Danish coverage as part of a wider international e-invoicing setup, rather than as a standalone local requirement. Before Invopop supported NemHandel, these customers were using another global e-invoicing provider and were not happy with the service they received.

Now that they have moved to Invopop, we are able to provide them with the high-quality, reliable service they were looking for across their markets. Denmark is part of that broader offering, and delivering it means sending their Danish invoices through the eCourier platform and into NemHandel.

What has it been like working with eCourier day to day, now that Denmark has been running for a while?

It has been a pleasure. The relationship is very light-touch because everything is running smoothly, which is exactly what we want from a piece of infrastructure once it is live.

We can rely on the connection without needing a lot of ongoing coordination or operational attention. That lets our team stay focused on our own platform and customers, while eCourier provides the local Danish infrastructure behind the service.
